The phrase “cat burglar” has finally undergone field testing.
A homeowner in Kirkland, Washington, heard banging inside the house and called 911, reasonably assuming someone had broken in.
Police arrived to find the suspect at the top of the stairs.
It was a bobcat.
Officers monitored the intruder with a drone, safely contained it until wildlife personnel arrived, and later released it near Forbes Creek. The resident house cat—which may have inspired the visit—was found unharmed.
No valuables were reported missing.
The suspect was, however, dressed for the occasion.
