Apparently even sharks grow into their faces.

Researchers studying bonnethead sharks in Florida found that both males and females begin life with relatively pointed, shovel-shaped heads—and that those heads become rounder as the animals mature, especially in females.

That overturns an older idea that males developed their pointed snouts at sexual maturity.

The researchers also tested whether different diets might explain the difference between the sexes.

They do not.

So science has successfully replaced one explanation with a considerably better question.

Which is, inconveniently, how science is supposed to work.
